Hi all,

Sorry to keep picking your brains like this, I'm hopefully in negotiations to get a used Weber TLM on a manifold with all bits off of a 1 litre mk2 (to hopefully replace my thirsty VV) now does anyone know if the jetting for the 1.0 will be far off for what I need for my 1.1? the next problem I'm going to have is trying to connect the throttle cable linkage, which will mean fixing up the original bracket that is bolted to the VV carb to the Weber :wall: .

Cheers

Pete

You should be able to get jet size info for both on the internet, and weber should be able to supply you with the correct jets, cant see there being much if any difference mind. I thought the 950 mk2 used a VV aswell though?

The very later 950 mk2's used the TLM but as you said I've seen a few 950's with VV's, I've been searching Ebay and Facebook groups for anyone braking a 950 and one popped up the other day, I've been looking at IBF's as well but I'm a little worried about buying a secondhand one as when they where new the kits had a lot of extra bits like studs etc that I wouldn't get if I just got the carb used.

I think the car would run a little lean if it was still on the 950 jets, you may not think the difference is that much but if you think that the difference between the two is 150cc and it's 200cc between the 1.1 and the 1.3 and you would defo need difference jets if you swapped between those two engines.

When I had my Imp with a Weber DCD I could swap everything over with that carb and the slightest change in either a choke or jet would upset it's running (or improve it depending on what way you went).

I ran a new IBF on the festival.
This was sold as an escort 1.3 carb.
I didn't change the jetting at all.
It ran like a dream.

Is the jetting information not in the Haynes?
Failing that, it might be in the Weber book.

Jason.

I see where you're coming from with the IBF but sometimes if the carb is new and has been set up for a perticuler cc then the jets and choke(s) etc are already in sync with each other, also fitting a slightly bigger carb can unstrangle the engine and allow it to breath and perform better, I suppose in theory the only way to find out is too fit it and see what happens, it may run perfect with just a little tweek or run like a bag of drowned kittens.

I remember a little tuning fad once had kids fitting Webers off of Ford V6's onto the 2 litre OHC engine, not sure what the outcome was? (I know it obviously improved performance) but not sure what things like fuel economy and engine reliability was like.

Looking in the Ford Vehicles Carburettors book.

The Weber 32 TLM is only listed for Fiesta 950 '86 -'89 and Fiesta 1.0 L & Van '89 -'91

950 jetting are larger than the 1.0.
Though the Venturi is larger on the 1.0 version.

Code:
Engine              : 950       : 1.0

Venturi             : 22       : 23
Idle Jet            : 47       : 45
Main Jet            : 112      : 110
Air Corrector Jet   : 220      : 220
Emulsion Tube       : F103     : F103
Acc pump Jet        : 45       : 45

So you have something to go on there.

Interesting, the PDF for the Haynes manual for the mk3 Fiesta 1.0 is the same as the 1.0 figures above and that is a TLM, also interesting to see is the mk3 1.1 has a TLDM twin choke and wonder if the HCS manifold is the same as the Valencia's?

No.
HSC and Valencia inlet manifolds differ.
The HSC manifold has a connection on one side for a water rail.

Bugger, well that's that idea out the window.

Thanks yet again for the advice.
