Hi!, I found a CVH engine from a Escort; on the engine there's LUK code.

It has a coil pack.
So no dizzy.

It could be single point injection.
They look like a carb. But aren't.

Can you not ask the seller?
If they don't know, or say they don't know... Walk away!

As mentioned above.
It is carb as it's got a mechanical fuel pump... I didn't notice that..

Coil pack. Personally, I'd run that on a ford ESC unit instead of changing to dizzy. Esc is an Electronic dizzy. Or megajolt if you can get one cheap enough.
But ESC will be fine. :)
More than likely a leanburn head.

You can probably put a dizzy on it.
But I honestly would go with the ESC unit.

Unless you can buy a new dizzy.
I had so many dizzy issues on my xr2 when I ran a cvh it wasn't funny anymore!
I replaced the dizzy, the coil some of the wiring.. If I'd known about ESC at the time, I'd have gotten one and rigged up a pickup for the CP's.
Dizzys are mechanical, so they wear.
No moving parts in an ESC unit.

ESC is an ECU of sorts.

It's just an electronic dizzy.
Plugs into a coil pack to produce the spark.
A crank position sensor, to know where in the engine cycle it is.
Has a built in map sensor to read manifold pressure to ascertain the load.
Connect an ignition live, earth and a wire to the rev counter and it's done.
Fitted to early 90's fords.

The zetec boys used to use them a lot when going to carb.

In that case, behind the coil pack should be a blanking plug.
Knock that out and you have access to the end of the cam shaft.
Check the head has the holes for the dizzy before you knock the blank out first though.

I'd still run an ESC or megajolt though. :)
-- and I'm not for all this electronic mumbo jumbo either!

I'd still keep the coilpack and run it on ESC or megajolt/Nodiz instead of dizzy.

But that's me.
As I said previously. I had no end of issues with dizzy and coil combinations.

Yes thats the one but the cam hasnt got the slot in it to locate the dizzy shaft so you will have to change the cam for one with the slot in so can use a dizzy

Ah!
No.
I too have never had any issue with the dizzy on a Valencia engine.
Not the electronic ones anyway.

But the cvh was a different matter.
The weights come lose and rattle.
The ignition module overheats and breaks down.

In that case. Check the end of the cam for the necessary slot.
But the head doesn't have the bolt holes for the dizzy either.
So best case, you only need to drill and tap the head for a dizzy.
Worse case. You have to do that.. And.. Change the cam for one from an earlier cvh with the dizzy slot.

I can't.

I can't find a suitable picture on the internet!
Not sure I still have a CVH head I can take a picture of either.

Someone will have a picture I'm sure.

Jason.
